Project description: Our team undertook environmental studies which explored the impact on the marine and terrestrial environment before and after the construction of the proposed works for improvement of the small port at Agios Andreas. The study investigated the effects on the natural environment of the region and, on the consistence of the proposed work with the spatial and social requirements of the region of the project, the safety and the protection of public health and the environment.

Works description:
  • Cutting the windward quay wall in 79.0m instead of 187.0m, with composite cross section
  • 170.0m leeward quay wall with composite cross section. A seawall with mass concrete units and rubble mound with rock units
  • 125.0m berths, seawall with mass concrete units
  • Slipway with mass concrete units
  • Reconstruction the deck of the land area of the berths
  • 30.0m pier with mass concrete units
  • 11000m2 basin with 2.50m depth
  • Widening of the windward quay wall for seawater renewal
  • Works for direction of a small mountain stream
  • 30.0m rubble mound jetty with rock armour units for coastal protection at the base of windward mole
  • Reconstruction / replacement the rock units of the existing moles
  • Dredging of basin
  • Construction of necessary equipment for safety berthing
  • Water and electricity supply networks
