Project description: The study involved the design of works to upgrade existing port facilities at “PARALIA” and “Agios Nikolaos” in Kiparissi of the former municipality of Zarakas, so as to function as tourist crafts shelter. The area of Kiparissi is located near the historical centres of Monemvasia, Sparta and Mystras. The tourist craft shelter in Kiparissi, will have the ability to serve 68 crafts of various sizes, including 36 at Agios Nikolaos and 32 at Paralia.

Works description:

At Agios Nikolaos

  • New slipway with mass concrete units
  • 25.0m pier with mass concrete units seawall
  • 45.80m berth with mass concrete units seawall
  • Reconstruction of rubble mound with rock armour
  • Toe protection of the existing berths
  • Deck reconstruction of existing berths
  • Land area redesign, with access roads, cover with stonew, plants, parking area etc
  • Land facilities (waste water collection tanks and oil residues) and electrical facilities platforms (electricity supply, water supply, fire fighting, etc.)
  • 50.0m2 auxiliary building
  • Underground water tank

At Paralia

  • 60.0m quay wall with mass concrete units seawall
  • 13.40m extension of existing berth
  • Deck reconstruction of existing berths
  • Land facilities (electricity supply, water supply, fire fighting, etc.)
